Hatch Racing

With training influences such as Tommy Smith, Bart Cummings, John Hawkes, Peter Snowden, John Sadler and Tony Gollan, it’s no wonder Lindsay Hatch has developed into a superb all-round horseman.

Lindsay started his life with horses when he was 13 developing into an apprentice jockey but weight curtailed his riding career. However, Hatch has continued working with thoroughbreds ever since.

Hatch was a track-rider for Smith before time spent working for the other great names in Australian racing provided him with an abundance of knowledge when it came time to taking out his own training licence, preparing his first runner in the Toowoomba area in the 2000/01 season as a part-time trainer.

Lindsay’s experience, coupled with the lessons learned on his journey in racing, have helped him formulate a consistent, thorough approach to training his horses.

Lindsay has a great ability to rehabilitate thoroughbreds with problems and get them back to the track with a patient approach, letting the animal progress through the process at its own pace.

The hands-on style of training keeps the horses happy and produces excellent results for the family business, which features Lindsay’s wife Tracey handling the administration side of the growing operation.

One of Lindsay’s greatest thrills is training was to win the Toowoomba Weetwood in 2020 and the 2021 TAB Military Rose Plate with family horse Jadentom.
